If you haven't cleaned your dryer's vent to the outdoors, typically a 4 inch diameter steel duct, you are likely way past due. And it is a big fire hazard, as was learned the hard way in Oakwood decades ago; fortunately the owners were not home at the time although it is not wise to run a dryer unattended.

Dryer vent duct cleaning can be a do-it-yourself job with the proper tools and safety equipment, or a pro can be hired. The more often you use your dryer, the more often the duct should be cleaned. The dryer itself may need cleaning internally -- generally a job left best to a pro.
