Although outside Lawrence's city limits, and in the Wakarusa Township, Oakwood Estates is in the Lawrence Public School District (USD 497). Oakwood is about one mile south of the South Lawrence Trafficway (K-10 west to I-70 and Topeka; K-10 east to Kansas City was completed in 2016), and is located conveniently near the following stores and other attractions.
